Collaborate
**Think**
The school librarian is Lori Hoover, served as an English teacher at the school prior to the current position at Hephzibah High School. Her skills as a classroom teacher supports her continued service to patrons as a librarian. She facilitates collaborative opportunities by the following:

- Students select music pieces to study in depth from a list, research the pieces, and add slides to a Powerpoint in Onedrive. Students then present to classmates. Students then present to classmates to “teach classmates” the material.
**Create**
- Students choose a type of media festival production to produce and they choose specific roles (script writers, proofreaders, camera persons, editors, etc.).
- They work together to act (if appropriate), shoot, and edit the production. Production types include live action, animation, sequential stills, etc.
**Share**
The learners participate in personal, social, and school networks through the app
Remind, cell
phones, and school email as communication tools to complete their projects. They establish connections with other learners and build on their current knowledge. Learners work productively with others to solve problems using diverse perspectives by using rubrics to guide and evaluate their finished products. This often results in additional
shooting/editing.
**Grow**
- At Students construct four minute prepared speeches using a rubric. Students in the audience provide feedback based on the rubric.

Recent challenges to implementing
these competencies include COVID restrictions (individual students are not
allowed to be dismissed from class, so students who would regularly be in the
media center are not coming), days missed of school due to COVID, county
obligations (pre- and post-tests, surveys, and other items that cause teachers
to believe they do not “have time” to utilize the media center, etc.
